And I keep forgetting to take Joel’s camera to the games.
So I will share the pics that my daughter and I were able to get on the kids’ phone.
Both of the kids are playing on the public school and homeschool basketball teams this year. In a way it has been nice, but it has put a cramp in our schooling schedule with the kids having to get to the school at a certain time each day. They will not be able to play next year as they will be in highschool and the sanctioning body does not allow homeschoolers to play on the highschool teams. No problem here, though. I wouldn’t have allowed them to play high school sports here anyway. I’ll rant about my reasons for this later, but for now suffice it to say that waaaaaayyyyyyyyyy too much emphasis is put on sports and not very much on education. And don’t even get me started on lack of quality and quantity of family time…
But I digress.
This is a picture of Joel last Thursday, playing for Hitchcock County. He is #32
And yes, he made the shot. 🙂
I was not at this game, so there were no pics of Shan taken.
Saturday, both the kids played for the homeschool team.
We now have a ‘home’ gym. There is a school building east of McCook that was purchased by an individual who used to homeschool (he’s also our insurance agent and friend). They are using it as a home, and rent it out to different organizations for various events.
We played four games. Highschool – for boys and girls, and junior high boys and girls.
This is Shan blocking a shot from the other team. Because of her height, Shan plays on the highschool team. The ages and grades are not so much a factor, as homeschoolers don’t always follow a grade-level system. Many graduate highschool at a much younger age. Ummm, mine won’t. 😀
They played the Central Nebraska Falcons.
Joel plays on the junior high team – again due to his size. Last year he played on the both the high school and junior high team. This year he would be the shortest on the high school team. He is the tallest on the junior high team.
