Our youth have a fund-raiser going.  One of the young men in the youth planted a huge field of sweet corn, and the youth are selling it for $5 per dozen.  So this past week my kids have been picking sweet corn every evening since the corn field is right across the road from us.

They have sold quite a bit, and this morning Shan is in town selling corn at a community yard sale. I will be picking her up when we get to town because she and Joel have a go-kart race today.

In other news, well not really news, just life stuff…

I have much to get done over the next few days.  We have a mold remediation contractor coming on Wednesday to give a bid on the parsonage.  A foundation specialist came last week, so Tim was ‘sweet’ and brought up my ‘stuff’ from the basement so I could go through everything.

I will get rid of what I no longer need and re-pack/reorganize what is left.

I have to admit that tasks like this overwhelm me.

First, because no matter what I throw away, Tim always second guesses me and sometimes takes things out of the trash. This frustrates me, and I have given him instructions not to do this… we’ll see. 😀  If no one hears from him after Thursday it’s because I’ve throttled him. 😉   Just kidding. 😀  maybe….

Second, there is a part of me that is afraid that I will do it all wrong, and won’t get it organized perfectly.  Why that matters so much to me, I’m not sure. However the thought of not doing it perfectly makes me want to run from doing it at all – which is why it hasn’t been done yet. 😛  However, I need to take this opportunity to organize and clear out. I really will feel better after I get it done. And it needs to be done by Wednesday.  Good thing, I work better under a deadline. 🙂

I have been amused at the people in the community that are concerned about my garden.  My tomatoes specifically.

I have had several people stop by and tell me I have something wrong with my tomatoes.  According to them, I should have tons of ripe red tomatoes. A few have ventured to guess or tell me what I’m doing wrong. One person even told me he would go by the hardware store and get all the information of whatever he thinks I need and let me know.  It’s kind of cute, actually. 😉  I thank them, but politely explain that I started all of my tomatoes from seed, and planted them a week or two later than most, so they won’t be as far along as everyone else’s.

Honestly, my tomatoes are doing fine. I have at least 6-10 tomatoes on each plant, they just haven’t turned red yet. A few are starting to, though. I will post pics as soon as I have some ripe ones. 🙂

  1. Yes, packing, sorting and tossing out things is not fun. Think of how wonderful it will be when you are done! 🙂 I’m looking forward to your tomato pictures…and would love to have some fresh picked corn with some homegrown tomatoes…Maybe someday…
